An apartment for $ 100 million for an entire floor: a pearl in the collection of Kairat Boranbayev

Access to the sea” has found another elite property belonging to businessman Kairat Boranbayev. An apartment in London occupies an entire floor and costs at least $ 100 million.

Until the 18th century, the Knightsbridge area was a zone of lawlessness, inundated with defrocked monks and various thugs, — this is how the article “The Legend of Two London” by the American magazine Vanity Fair begins . “But that all changed in the Victorian era, which still sets the style for the area.

But now those who leave the south exit of the metro are not impressed by the historic buildings — the first thing they see are four buildings of glass, metal and concrete, sandwiched between the Victorian splendor of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and a five-story residential complex. This is the One Hyde Park residence, which has earned the title of “the most expensive apartment building in the world” due to the high cost of the apartments. The cost of apartments here reaches hundreds of millions of pounds and today “Access to the Sea” will tell about one of them.

Famous buyers

We have already touched upon this residence when we talked about the property of Camilla Kim , the middle daughter of a businessman close to the first president of Kazakhstan, Vladimir Kim . The girl became the owner of an apartment in One Hyde Park for £ 27.5 million on her 18th birthday.

Vladimir Kim himself is mentioned by Vanity Fair magazine among the first buyers of apartments in this house, that is, he acquired and owned real estate in this house at least until 2013. “Landlocked” failed to independently confirm this information.

Vanity Fair also mentions another owner of an apartment with Kazakh citizenship from One Hyde Park — “singer” Anar Aitzhanova . She is known to Kazakhstani law enforcement agencies and investigative journalists as an associate of the fugitive oligarch Mukhtar Ablyazov . The magazine claimed that she owns an apartment worth $ 39 million. “Access to the sea” has so far been able to confirm this information only partially — Aytzhanov is on the public list of owners, but the number of the apartment is unknown to us.

There are only about 80 apartments in the four-tower complex One Hyde Park: the exact number cannot be given, because the richest owners combine several apartments at once. Thus, the 11th, 12th and 13th floors of tower “C” were purchased by the project investor, Sheikh Hamad bin Jasim al-Thani , at the time of acquisition — by the Prime Minister of Qatar. Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov owns a two-story apartment in this complex. Vanity Fair valued this purchase at $ 215.9 million.

Home for post-Soviet corrupt officials

The creators of the project — the Candy brothers — knew what audience they were counting on, so they tried to please future buyers as much as possible. The Candy brothers built their business on the renovation of apartments with adaptation to the tastes of the customer. They did one of their first projects for the fugitive Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky .

Designers quickly realized that the most promising clients on the market are not bankers or successful Western businessmen. Even Arab money faded into the background, and corrupt officials from the countries of the former Soviet Union came to the fore. “It’s hard for anyone to compete with the Russians or Kazakhs,” says one expert for Vanity Fair.

Therefore, the main distinguishing features of One Hyde Park are underlined privacy. Outsiders are not allowed into the complex, and its security is trained by British special forces. The windows are made in such a way that it is impossible to spy on them. The buyers are also mostly anonymous — two-thirds of the apartments are registered with offshore companies, the ultimate beneficiaries of which are unknown.

Boranbaev’s floor

But Kairat Boranbayev, a constant hero of the publications of “Access to the Sea”, did not hide his name from the British real estate registry. He is registered as the owner of an apartment in One Hyde Park on the ninth floor of building C — in the same building where Vladimir Kim’s daughter lives on the seventh floor.

Extract from the British Real Estate Register. It is indicated that Boranbayev owns not only an apartment, but also a parking space, a storage room and two wine storage rooms

The extract from the register does not indicate the purchase price. “Access to the sea” has already encountered a similar situation in the case of other objects belonging to Boranbayev. But this time we can safely evaluate the real estate — none of the apartments that occupy an entire floor in this complex cost less than $ 100 million, and the cost of one of them reached £ 160 million ($ 226 million, penthouse in building B).

Now, to the collection of Kairat Boranbayev, you can add a real treasure, which can only be compared to a mansion in an elite area near London , the price of which is also unknown.

The plan of the apartment under the apartments of Kairat Boranbayev: in the illustration, the eighth floor of building “C”, a Kazakh businessman owns the ninth floor of the same building

Recall that “Access to the Sea” and other publications were added to the public collection of Kairat Boranbayev earlier:

Three apartments in The Knightsbridge Apartments, adjacent to One Hyde Park, with a total value of £ 15 to £ 55 million.

- Hotels in Czech Karlovy Vary, a tennis court near this resort, an apartment in a closed residence where Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babis lives, and a golf club in Latvian Jurmala .

- An apartment in the most expensive skyscraper in Russia — in the Federation tower of the Moscow City complex.

- House in Canada — a  small mansion in the suburbs of Toronto.
